Case study ~ Extraction

Most action movies have the typical super heros and fighting. The point in all action movies is just to kill and to battle and other stuff like that. A movie I found similar to mines is "Extraction". Extraction is an Action/Thriller film written and directed by Sam Hargrave, Ande Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo. The goal throughout the film is to make the audience eager to watch more. This is also my goal for my movie, to make the audience want to watch my movie. The film was produced by Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwern. The budget for this movie was 65 million USD. Full financial estimates for this film, including domestic and international box office, video sales, video rentals, TV and ancillary revenue are not available online. Extraction was shot by cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC, on two main cameras that are similar (RED Monstro 8K and Panavision DXL2). The film was released April 24, 2020 on netflix f

What I want to do

Okay so what am I trying to acheive in my movie..? Okay soo, my message to all the viewers is that you have to keep working harder and harder to complete your goal even if it takes you a couple tries. A film that is similar to mines is Black panther. I believe that it is similar to mines because it portrays a strong black superhero that is hardworking and a leader. Some production companies that specialize in films similar to mine are Universal, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Boys. I think Universal would be the best fit for me and my movie because Universal has a reputation that has proven to be unparrelled back in the the Hollywood's Golden age (20s through 60s) and they are continuing to show that they are a leading force amongst enertainment.  I plan to produce with a large studio to have as much help as i can get to make my movie better than any other action movie. If I use Universal as my production company I feel as if my movie with have a lot of viewers and become popular

The script

Image
Okayyy, welcome back. This time we are going to discuss the script and how everything is going to work. So the film is called "The last kill". There will be a superhero who's job is to complete a task iin a certain time frame in order to level up. If failed the super hero will have to work harder and harder to complete it. I'm not sure what the superhero's name should be. I picture him as a strong black superhero that is hardworking and caring and works good with other people or superheros. In the beginning of the ilm the superhero will be out of his uniform and dressed regulary until he gets a call that he needs to come into work to do the task that he is trying to complete in the movie. I plan on having other superheros in the movie who try to compete with the main superhero (again we dont know his name yet). Alright thats enough for today but heres what i think he would look like...    But of course not exactly like that because thats already a superhero. BYEE

Changes

Sooo guys, If you didnt read my previous blogs you wouldn't have known that I used to have a group.. Naheilah and Ashley. Well I got switched out of my first period soo I didnt have a group for probably a week or two. But recently I got put into a new group.. YAY. So my new group members are Isaiah and Keiron. When I first got put in their group I found out that their genre choice was Action. Also if you did read my last blogs you would have knew that my choice was genre because I felt that it was the easiest. So we decided that we were just going to put the two genres together but after a while we thought about it and just decided on doing action and i'm okay with that. The key to working in a group is to get along and learn to compromise and I really didn't want to do this whole project BY MYSELF. So now this blog post is about the changes that were made with the project. Stay tuned for the rest of the information guys... BYEEE

Okay..the plot

Sooo.. most horror movies all have really cool names.. so what about mines??  Heres some options.. 1. The sleepover 2. Where has all the kids gone 3. The girl For my movie title i'm trying to not go for the usual "haunted house" or something with "monster" in it. I've decided that I wanted a title that no one would ever think of. Let's go through the options again. "The sleepover".. For that title I was thinking like a group of friends that go have fun but something happens unexpectedly. Too boring.. "Where has all the kids gone".. Sounds like something true and very scary.. Like scary too the point where no one can ever finish the movie.. Not what im going for. And lastly "The girl".. Good title.. but its almost too predictable about what actually going to happen in the movie. You know like that weird girl that turns evil and goes after every one. Nah.. Okay maybe were going to need to look for some more titles.  Second op

Research on Genre

So for my genre I chose Horror. Some of the basic conventions os horror is to make the film original and unpredictable. Different aspects of media texts are made to set the horror genre are narrative, character, setting, props, color, costume, lighting, and sound. Most films with my genre usually start off dark with mysterious music in the background. The bacjground music shows that the film is supposed to be scary but also not giving to much info. Usually in the first 2 minutes start of subtle. Horror films are often shot in a haunted house with a group of kids most likely at night time. The audience i am trying to appeal to are teens usually because young adults and teenagers enjoy a lot of thrill and exitement. Age groups like adults and older people would not want to watch. The title of horror films are mostly big and bold with blood or anything else that can seem scary on it. In movies with that genre, there are varieties of different social groups that are portrayed. Some are the

Welcome

This is where the production is going to begin. It may take a while to actually produce but lets get into it. This is going to be a great journey... Meanwhile this is what questions are going on inside my head.."What type of movie I want to make? How do i want to display it?" Those are two great questions with very simple answers but how do I come up with just one idea? So I looked up different genre types.. The ones that really caught my eye were Mystery, Horror, and Comedy. After a while I narrowed the list down to just Horror and I believe that that's a topic that I would really enjoy since I will be doing this project for so long. *Sigh* Anyways... this is where I leave off and also welcome you to my crazy project journey. Stay tuned for more.... Peace.

Opening credits

What is the real purpose of an opening credit?? Opening credits show you the most important members in the movie and other information about them. They persuade you to continue watching the movie and to not change it. Most of time when its a actor that you are fimiliar with and like, you'll see their name and continue watching. Opening credits draw the audience in and kind of help you see what the main idea of the movie is going to be or what its going be like. A perfect example is Sound, sound can help you tell if its going to be scary by using mysterious, dark music, romantic by using slow, jazz-like music or a comedy but using up beat pop music.

Intro

I have a feeling that this project is going to be a bit crazy but if i actually take it as serious as it is, i would get a grade that i am proud of. Staytuned because they are going to be many amazing blog entries on what me and the rest of my group is doing. Even though it is alot of work i feel like it would be something you should continue reading and being active with. Im not sure what me and my group members are using as our main topic but, see ya later!!
